But Solomon built a house ¹  for him.

The one who speaks in a tongue builds himself up, ¹  but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

because he loves our nation, ¹  and even ²  built our synagogue.” ³ 

They will say, ¹  ‘This man ²  began to build and was not able to finish!’ ³ 

For you are certainly giving thanks well, but the other person is not strengthened.

But if I build up again those things I once destroyed, ¹  I demonstrate that I am one who breaks God’s law. ² 

Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.

Have you not read this scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. ¹ 

Woe to you! You build ¹  the tombs of the prophets whom your ancestors ²  killed.

Likewise, just as it was ¹  in the days of Lot, people ²  were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building;

And in this way I desire to preach where Christ has not been named, so as not to build on another person’s foundation,

“Everything is lawful,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is lawful,” ¹  but not everything builds others up. ² 

“Woe to you, experts in the law ¹  and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You ²  build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves ³  of the righteous.

and declared, “This man ¹  said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with hands and in three days build another not made with hands.’”

Those who passed by defamed him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

So you testify that you approve of ¹  the deeds of your ancestors, ²  because they killed the prophets ³  and you build their ⁴  tombs! ⁵ 

Then ¹  he said, ‘I ²  will do this: I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t sit down ¹  first and compute the cost ²  to see if he has enough money to complete it?

Then the Jewish leaders ¹  said to him, “This temple has been under construction ²  for forty-six years, ³  and are you going to raise it up in three days?”
