I have not come ¹  to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” ² 

This persuasion ¹  does not come from the one who calls you!

He who calls you is trustworthy, and he will in fact do this. ¹ 

He sent his slaves ¹  to summon those who had been invited to the banquet, but they would not come.

Was anyone called after he had been circumcised? He should not try to undo his circumcision. ¹  Was anyone called who is uncircumcised? He should not get circumcised.

“When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, ¹  do not take ²  the place of honor, because a person more distinguished than you may have been invited by your host. ³ 

And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.

For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave is the Lord’s freedman. In the same way, the one who was called as a free person is Christ’s slave.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children ¹  of God.

He said to them, “How then does David by the Spirit call him ‘Lord,’ saying,

If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?” ¹ 

and elaborate greetings ¹  in the marketplaces, and to have people call them ‘Rabbi.’

Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one teacher, the Christ. ¹ 

For this reason that field has been called the “Field of Blood” to this day.

But ¹  his mother replied, ²  “No! He must be named ³  John.” ⁴ 

So ¹  they made signs to the baby’s ²  father, ³  inquiring what he wanted to name his son. ⁴

“Why ¹  do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ ²  and don’t do what I tell you? ³ 

But when you host an elaborate meal, ¹  invite the poor, the crippled, ²  the lame, and ³  the blind. ⁴
