Do we not have the right to financial support? ¹ 

and said, “By what authority ¹  are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”

So Pilate said, ¹  “Do you refuse to speak to me? Don’t you know I have the authority ²  to release you, and to crucify you?” ³ 

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, ¹  and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God.

Then ¹  out of the smoke came locusts onto the earth, and they were given power ²  like that of the scorpions of the earth.

because he taught them like one who had authority, ¹  not like their experts in the law. ² 

and to have authority to cast out demons.

For this reason a woman should have a symbol of authority ¹  on her head, because of the angels. ² 

Remind them to be subject to rulers and ¹  authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work.

Now after Jesus ¹  entered the temple courts, ²  the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said, “By what authority ³  are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”

and said to him, ¹  “Tell us: By what authority ²  are you doing these things? ³  Or who it is who gave you this authority?”

No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down ¹  of my own free will. ²  I have the authority ³  to lay it down, and I have the authority ⁴  to take it back again. This commandment ⁵  I received from my Father.”

If others receive this right from you, are we not more deserving? But we have not made use of this right. Instead we endure everything so that we may not be a hindrance to the gospel of Christ.

When ¹  the crowd saw this, they were afraid ²  and honored God who had given such authority to men. ³ 

After ¹  Jesus ²  called ³  the twelve ⁴  together, he gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure ⁵  diseases,
