But in those sacrifices ¹  there is a reminder of sins year after year.

“Whoever sacrifices to a god other than the Lord ¹  alone must be utterly destroyed. ² 

Offer the prescribed sacrifices ¹  and trust in the Lord! ² 

They worshiped ¹  Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead. ² 

I am not condemning ¹  you because of your sacrifices, or because of your burnt sacrifices that you continually offer me. ² 

Let them present thank offerings, and loudly proclaim what he has done! ¹

This was a symbol for the time then present, when gifts and sacrifices were offered that could not perfect the conscience of the worshiper.

Nor will the Levitical priests ever lack someone to stand before me and continually offer up burnt offerings, sacrifice cereal offerings, and offer the other sacrifices.”’” ¹
