In the house once again, the disciples asked him about this.

So ¹  the crowds were asking ²  him, “What then should we do?”

Then ¹  his disciples asked him what this parable meant. ² 

Now ¹  when Jesus ²  had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable.

Then ¹  they asked him, ²  “Why do the experts in the law ³  say that Elijah must come first?”

Then some Pharisees ¹  came, and to test him ²  they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his ³  wife?” ⁴ 

Sadducees ¹  (who say there is no resurrection) ²  also came to him and asked him, ³ 

They ¹  blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly, ²  “Prophesy! Who hit you?” ³ 

Then, ¹  after he went into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

Then some soldiers ¹  also asked him, “And as for us – what should we do?” ²  He told them, “Take money from no one by violence ³  or by false accusation, ⁴  and be content with your pay.”
