When the sovereign judge ¹  scatters kings, ²  let it snow ³  on Zalmon!

saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.”

At the top ¹  of the elevated places along the way, at the intersection ²  of the paths she takes her stand;

For messengers are coming, heralding disaster, from the city of Dan and from the hills of Ephraim. ¹ 

There on the hillside, ¹  a great herd of pigs was feeding.

So Jesus went on up the mountainside ¹  and sat down there with his disciples.

Riding on her donkey, she went down under cover of the mountain. David and his men were coming down to meet her, and she encountered them.

Why do you look with envy, ¹  O mountains ²  with many peaks, at the mountain where God has decided to live? ³  Indeed ⁴  the Lord will live there ⁵  permanently!

The Lord says, “I will restore the ruined houses of the descendants of Jacob. I will show compassion on their ruined homes. ¹  Every city will be rebuilt on its former ruins. ²  Every fortified dwelling will occupy its traditional site. ³ 

But I will restore the flock of Israel to their own pasture. They will graze on Mount Carmel and the land of Bashan. They will eat until they are full ¹  on the hills of Ephraim and the land of Gilead. ² 

Therefore, because of you, ¹  Zion will be plowed up like ²  a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, and the Temple Mount ³  will become a hill overgrown with brush! ⁴ 

Joseph is a fruitful bough, ¹  a fruitful bough near a spring whose branches ²  climb over the wall.

Above the Horse Gate the priests worked, each in front of his house.

He will not grow rich, and his wealth will not endure, nor will his possessions ¹  spread over the land.

He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile, ¹ 

Once again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria. ¹  Those who plant them will once again enjoy their fruit. ² 

Now on ¹  the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a large crowd met him.

Balaam said to Balak, “Station yourself ¹  by your burnt offering, and I will go off; perhaps the Lord will come to meet me, and whatever he reveals to me ²  I will tell you.” ³  Then he went to a deserted height. ⁴ 

The border then descended to the edge of the hill country near the Valley of Ben Hinnom located in the Valley of the Rephaites to the north. It descended through the Valley of Hinnom to the slope of the Jebusites to the south and then down to En Rogel.

But Saul found out the whereabouts of David and the men who were with him. ¹  Now Saul was sitting at Gibeah under the tamarisk tree at an elevated location with his spear in hand and all his servants stationed around him.
