Deuteronomy 1:10-11

1:10 The Lord your God has increased your population 1  to the point that you are now as numerous as the very stars of the sky. 2  1:11 Indeed, may the Lord, the God of your ancestors, make you a thousand times more numerous than you are now, blessing you 3  just as he said he would!

Deuteronomy 5:3

5:3 He 4  did not make this covenant with our ancestors 5  but with us, we who are here today, all of us living now.

Deuteronomy 5:25

5:25 But now, why should we die, because this intense fire will consume us! If we keep hearing the voice of the Lord our God we will die!

9:11 Now at the end of the forty days and nights the Lord presented me with the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.

10:22 When your ancestors went down to Egypt, they numbered only seventy, but now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of the sky. 6

2 tn Or “heavens.” The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heaven(s)” or “sky” depending on the context.

3 tn Heb “may he bless you.”

4 tn Heb “the Lord.” The pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons to avoid redundancy.

5 tn Heb “fathers.”

6 tn Or “heavens.” The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heaven(s)” or “sky” depending on the context.
