Longing for Death

3:20 “Why does God give light to one who is in misery,

and life to those whose soul is bitter,

3:21 to those who wait for death that does not come,

and search for it

more than for hidden treasures,

The Brevity of Life

7:1 “Does not humanity have hard service on earth?

Are not their days also

like the days of a hired man?

Job 7:10

7:10 He returns no more to his house,

nor does his place of residence know him any more.

14:2 He grows up like a flower and then withers away;

he flees like a shadow, and does not remain.
