Romans 1:27

1:27 and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women ¹  and were inflamed in their passions ²  for one another. Men ³  committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Romans 3:4

3:4 Absolutely not! Let God be proven true, and every human being ⁴  shown up as a liar, ⁵  just as it is written: “so that you will be justified ⁶  in your words and will prevail when you are judged.” ⁷ 

Romans 7:4

7:4 So, my brothers and sisters, ⁸  you also died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you could be joined to another, to the one who was raised from the dead, to bear fruit to God. ⁹ 

Romans 12:8

12:8 if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.

⁵ tn Grk “Let God be true, and every man a liar.” The words “proven” and “shown up” are supplied in the translation to clarify the meaning.

⁶ tn Grk “might be justified,” a subjunctive verb, but in this type of clause it carries the same sense as the future indicative verb in the latter part. “Will” is more idiomatic in contemporary English.

⁷ tn Or “prevail when you judge.” A quotation from Ps 51:4.
