Revelation 2:3

2:3 I am also aware ¹  that you have persisted steadfastly, ²  endured much for the sake of my name, and have not grown weary.

Revelation 3:10

3:10 Because you have kept ³  my admonition ⁴  to endure steadfastly, ⁵  I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

¹ tn Because of the length and complexity of this Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation by supplying the phrase “I am also aware” to link this English sentence back to “I know” at the beginning of v. 2.

² tn The Greek word translated “persisted steadfastly” (ὑπομονή, Jupomonh) is the same one translated “steadfast endurance” in v. 2.

³ tn Or “obey.” For the translation of τηρέω (threw) as “obey” see L&N 36.19. In the Greek there is a wordplay: “because you have kept my word…I will keep you,” though the meaning of τηρέω is different each time.

⁴ tn The Greek term λόγον (logon) is understood here in the sense of admonition or encouragement.

⁵ tn Or “to persevere.” Here ὑπομονῆς (Jupomonhs) has been translated as a genitive of reference/respect related to τὸν λόγον (ton logon).
