Psalms 77:7

77:7 I asked, “Will the Lord reject me forever?

Will he never again show me his favor?

Psalms 105:40

105:40 They asked for food, and he sent quails;

he satisfied them with food from the sky.


tn As in vv. 4 and 6a, the words of vv. 7-9 are understood as a quotation of what the psalmist said earlier. Therefore the words “I asked” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

tn Heb “he [i.e., his people] asked.” The singular form should probably be emended to a plural שָׁאֲלוּ (shaalu, “they asked”), the vav (ו) having fallen off by haplography (note the vav at the beginning of the following form).

tn Or “bread of heaven.” The reference is to manna (see Exod 16:4, 13-15).
