9:21 And when 1  the cloud remained only 2  from evening until morning, when the cloud was taken up 3  the following morning, then they traveled on. Whether by day or by night, when the cloud was taken up they traveled.

Numbers 11:32

11:32 And the people stayed up 4  all that day, all that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail. The one who gathered the least gathered ten homers, 5  and they spread them out 6  for themselves all around the camp.

Numbers 22:20

22:20 God came to Balaam that night, and said to him, “If the men have come to call you, get up and go with them; but the word that I will say to you, that you must do.”

2 tn “Only” is supplied to reflect the contrast between the two verses.

3 tn The construction in this half of the verse uses two vav (ו) consecutive clauses. The first is subordinated to the second as a temporal clause: “when…then….”

4 tn Heb “rose up, stood up.”

5 sn This is about two thousand liters.

6 tn The verb (a preterite) is followed by the infinitive absolute of the same root, to emphasize the action of spreading out the quail. Although it is hard to translate the expression, it indicates that they spread these quail out all over the area. The vision of them spread all over was evidence of God’s abundant provision for their needs.
