Matthew 18:29
18:29 Then his fellow slave threw himself down and begged him, 1 ‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you.’
Matthew 18:33
18:33 Should you not have shown mercy to your fellow slave, just as I showed it to you?’
Matthew 24:48
24:48 But if 2 that evil slave should say to himself, 3 ‘My master is staying away a long time,’
Matthew 25:30
25:30 And throw that worthless slave into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
1 tn Grk “begged him, saying.” The participle λέγων (legwn) is redundant here in contemporary English and has not been translated.
2 tn In the Greek text this is a third class condition that for all practical purposes is a hypothetical condition (note the translation of the following verb “should say”).
3 tn Grk “should say in his heart.”
