Luke 13:2

13:2 He answered them, “Do you think these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered these things?

Luke 21:7

21:7 So they asked him, “Teacher, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that these things are about to take place?”

tn Grk “And he.” Here καί (kai) has been translated as “now” to indicate the transition to a new topic.

sn Jesus did not want his hearers to think that tragedy was necessarily a judgment on these people because they were worse sinners.

tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “so” to indicate the implied result of Jesus’ comments about the temple’s future destruction.

tn Grk “asked him, saying.” The participle λέγοντες (legontes) is redundant in English and has not been translated.

sn Both references to these things are plural, so more than the temple’s destruction is in view. The question may presuppose that such a catastrophe signals the end.

tn Grk “when.”
