Joshua 7:2

7:2 Joshua sent men from Jericho ¹  to Ai (which is located near Beth Aven, east of Bethel ² ) and instructed them, “Go up and spy on the land.” So the men went up and spied on Ai.

Joshua 8:21-22

8:21 When Joshua and all Israel saw that the men in ambush had captured the city and that the city was going up in smoke, ³  they turned around and struck down the men of Ai. 8:22 At the same time the men who had taken the city came out to fight, and the men of Ai were trapped in the middle. ⁴  The Israelites struck them down, leaving no survivors or refugees.

Joshua 24:31

24:31 Israel worshiped ⁵  the Lord throughout Joshua’s lifetime and as long as the elderly men who outlived him remained alive. ⁶  These men had experienced firsthand everything the Lord had done for Israel. ⁷
