Job 12:24

12:24 He deprives the leaders of the earth

of their understanding;

he makes them wander

in a trackless desert waste.

Job 38:41

38:41 Who prepares prey for the raven,

when its young cry out to God

and wander about for lack of food?

tn Heb “the heads of the people of the earth.”

tn Heb “heart.”

tn The text has בְּתֹהוּ לֹא־דָרֶךְ (bÿtohu lodarekh): “in waste – no way,” or “in a wasteland [where there is] no way,” thus, “trackless” (see the discussion of negative attributes using לֹא [lo’] in GKC 482 §152.u).

tn The verse is difficult, making some suspect that a line has dropped out. The little birds in the nest hardly go wandering about looking for food. Dhorme suggest “and stagger for lack of food.”
