Judges 7:22
7:22 When the three hundred men blew their trumpets, the Lord caused the Midianites to attack one another with their swords 1 throughout 2 the camp. The army fled to Beth Shittah on the way to Zererah. They went 3 to the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath.
Judges 20:10
20:10 We will take ten of every group of a hundred men from all the tribes of Israel (and a hundred of every group of a thousand, and a thousand of every group of ten thousand) to get supplies for the army. 4 When they arrive in Gibeah of Benjamin they will punish them for the atrocity which they committed in Israel.” 5
Judges 20:31
20:31 The Benjaminites attacked 6 the army, leaving the city unguarded. 7 They began to strike down their enemy 8 just as they had done before. On the main roads (one leads to Bethel, 9 the other to Gibeah) and in the field, they struck down 10 about thirty Israelites.
1 tn Heb “the Lord set the sword of each one against his friend.”
2 tc MT has “and throughout the camp,” but the conjunction (“and”) is due to dittography and should be dropped. Compare the ancient versions, which lack the conjunction here.
3 tn The words “they went” are supplied in the translation for clarification.
4 tn Or “people.”
5 tn Heb “to do at their arrival in Geba of Benjamin according to all the disgraceful [thing] which he [collective = “Benjamin”] did in Israel.” Here “Geba” must be an error for “Gibeah.”
6 tn Heb “went out to meet.”
7 tn Heb “and they were drawn away from the city.”
8 tn Heb “from the army wounded ones.”
