Judges 3:9

3:9 When the Israelites cried out for help to the Lord, he 1  raised up a deliverer for the Israelites who rescued 2  them. His name was Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. 3 

Judges 4:3

4:3 The Israelites cried out for help to the Lord, because Sisera 4  had nine hundred chariots with iron-rimmed wheels, 5  and he cruelly 6  oppressed the Israelites for twenty years.

Judges 12:2-3

12:2 Jephthah said to them, “My people and I were entangled in controversy with the Ammonites. 7  I asked for your help, but you did not deliver me from their power. 8  12:3 When I saw that you were not going to help, 9  I risked my life 10  and advanced against 11  the Ammonites, and the Lord handed them over to me. Why have you come up 12  to fight with me today?”

3 tn “Caleb’s younger brother” may refer to Othniel or to Kenaz (in which case Othniel is Caleb’s nephew).

4 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Sisera) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
