Isaiah 37:11

37:11 Certainly you have heard how the kings of Assyria have annihilated all lands. Do you really think you will be rescued?

Isaiah 47:7

47:7 You said,

‘I will rule forever as permanent queen!’

You did not think about these things;

you did not consider how it would turn out.

Isaiah 65:17

65:17 For look, I am ready to create

new heavens and a new earth!

The former ones will not be remembered;

no one will think about them anymore.

tn Heb “Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, annihilating them.”

tn Heb “and will you be rescued?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “No, of course not!”

tn Heb “Forever I [will be] permanent queen”; NIV “the eternal queen”; CEV “queen forever.”

tn Heb “you did not set these things upon your heart [or “mind”].”

tn Heb “you did not remember its outcome”; NAB “you disregarded their outcome.”

sn This hyperbolic statement likens the coming transformation of Jerusalem (see vv. 18-19) to a new creation of the cosmos.

tn Or perhaps, “the former things” (so ASV, NASB, NIV, NRSV); TEV “The events of the past.”

tn Heb “and they will not come up on the mind.”
