Isaiah 3:8

3:8 Jerusalem certainly stumbles,

Judah falls,

for their words and their actions offend the Lord;

they rebel against his royal authority.

Isaiah 63:10

63:10 But they rebelled and offended his holy Spirit,

so he turned into an enemy

and fought against them.

tn Heb “for their tongue and their deeds [are] to the Lord.”

tn Heb “to rebel [against] the eyes of his majesty.” The word כָּבוֹד (kavod) frequently refers to the Lord’s royal splendor that is an outward manifestation of his authority as king.

tn Or “grieved, hurt the feelings of.”

sn The phrase “holy Spirit” occurs in the OT only here (in v. 11 as well) and in Ps 51:11 (51:13 HT), where it is associated with the divine presence.
