Isaiah 21:9

21:9 Look what’s coming!

A charioteer,

a team of horses.” ¹ 

When questioned, he replies, ² 

“Babylon has fallen, fallen!

All the idols of her gods lie shattered on the ground!”

Isaiah 37:16

37:16 “O Lord who commands armies, O God of Israel, who is enthroned on the cherubim! ³  You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the sky ⁴  and the earth.

Isaiah 65:8

65:8 This is what the Lord says:

“When ⁵  juice is discovered in a cluster of grapes,

someone says, ‘Don’t destroy it, for it contains juice.’ ⁶ 

So I will do for the sake of my servants –

I will not destroy everyone. ⁷

³ sn Cherubim (singular “cherub”) refers to the images of winged angelic creatures that were above the ark of the covenant.

⁴ tn Or “the heavens.” The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heavens” or “sky” depending on the context.

⁵ tn Heb “just as.” In the Hebrew text the statement is one long sentence, “Just as…, so I will do….”

⁶ tn Heb “for a blessing is in it.”

⁷ tn Heb “by not destroying everyone.”
