Isaiah 15:2

15:2 They went up to the temple,

the people of Dibon went up to the high places to lament.

Because of what happened to Nebo and Medeba, Moab wails.

Every head is shaved bare,

every beard is trimmed off.

Isaiah 20:6

20:6 At that time those who live on this coast will say, ‘Look what has happened to our source of hope to whom we fled for help, expecting to be rescued from the king of Assyria! How can we escape now?’”

Isaiah 48:5

48:5 I announced them to you beforehand;

before they happened, I predicted them for you,

so you could never say,

‘My image did these things,

my idol, my cast image, decreed them.’

tn Heb “house.”

tn Heb “even Dibon [to] the high places to weep.” The verb “went up” does double duty in the parallel structure.

tn Heb “over [or “for”] Nebo and over [or “for”] Medeba.”

sn Shaving the head and beard were outward signs of mourning and grief.

tn Heb “in that day” (so KJV).

sn This probably refers to the coastal region of Philistia (cf. TEV).
