Isaiah 61:9

61:9 Their descendants will be known among the nations,

their offspring among the peoples.

the Lord has blessed them.”

tn Heb “and bows cut to bits young men.” “Bows” stands by metonymy for arrows.

tn Heb “the fruit of the womb.”

tn Heb “their eye does not.” Here “eye” is a metonymy for the whole person.

tn Heb “you will not be united with them in burial” (so NASB).

tn Heb “Are you not children of rebellion, offspring of a lie?” The rhetorical question anticipates the answer, “Of course you are!”

tn Heb “all who see them will recognize them, that they [are] descendants [whom] the Lord has blessed.”
