Isaiah 11:7

11:7 A cow and a bear will graze together,

their young will lie down together.

A lion, like an ox, will eat straw.

Isaiah 13:18

13:18 Their arrows will cut young men to ribbons;

they have no compassion on a person’s offspring,

they will not look with pity on children.

tn Heb “and a cow and a bear will graze – together – they will lie down, their young.” This is a case of pivot pattern; יַחְדָּו (yakhddav, “together”) goes with both the preceding and following statements.

tn Heb “and bows cut to bits young men.” “Bows” stands by metonymy for arrows.

tn Heb “the fruit of the womb.”

tn Heb “their eye does not.” Here “eye” is a metonymy for the whole person.
