Genesis 9:3

9:3 You may eat any moving thing that lives. 1  As I gave you 2  the green plants, I now give 3  you everything.

Genesis 3:10

3:10 The man replied, 4  “I heard you moving about 5  in the orchard, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.”

1 tn Heb “every moving thing that lives for you will be for food.”

2 tn The words “I gave you” are not in the Hebrew text, but are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

3 tn The perfect verb form describes the action that accompanies the declaration.

4 tn Heb “and he said.”

5 tn Heb “your sound.” If one sees a storm theophany here (see the note on the word “time” in v. 8), then one could translate, “your powerful voice.”
