Genesis 31:40

31:40 I was consumed by scorching heat during the day and by piercing cold at night, and I went without sleep.

Genesis 46:2

46:2 God spoke to Israel in a vision during the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” He replied, “Here I am!”

tn Or “by drought.”

tn Heb “frost, ice,” though when contrasted with the חֹרֶב (khorev, “drought, parching heat”) of the day, “piercing cold” is more appropriate as a contrast.

tn Heb “and my sleep fled from my eyes.”

tn Heb “in visions of the night.” The plural form has the singular meaning, probably as a plural of intensity.
