Genesis 3:7

3:7 Then the eyes of both of them opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Genesis 43:25-26

43:25 They got their gifts ready for Joseph’s arrival 1  at noon, for they had heard 2  that they were to have a meal 3  there.

43:26 When Joseph came home, they presented him with the gifts they had brought inside, 4  and they bowed down to the ground before him.

Genesis 46:32

46:32 The men are shepherds; 5  they take care of livestock. 6  They have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’

1 tn The construction uses the infinitive construct after the preposition, followed by the subjective genitive.

2 tn The action precedes the action of preparing the gift, and so must be translated as past perfect.

3 tn Heb “eat bread.” The imperfect verbal form is used here as a historic future (future from the perspective of the past).

4 tn Heb “into the house.”

5 tn Heb “feeders of sheep.”

6 tn Heb “for men of livestock they are.”
