26:2 The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; settle down in the land that I will point out to you.

Genesis 43:30

43:30 Joseph hurried out, for he was overcome by affection for his brother and was at the point of tears. So he went to his room and wept there.


sn Do not go down to Egypt. The words echo Gen 12:10, which reports that “Abram went down to Egypt,” but state the opposite.

tn Heb “say to you.”

tn Heb “for his affection boiled up concerning his brother.” The same expression is used in 1 Kgs 3:26 for the mother’s feelings for her endangered child.
