Ezekiel’s Commission

2:1 He said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet and I will speak with you.”

Ezekiel 40:14-15

40:14 He measured the porch at 105 feet high; the gateway went all around to the jamb of the courtyard. 40:15 From the front of the entrance gate to the porch of the inner gate was 87½ feet.

Ezekiel 41:10

41:10 and the chambers of the court was 35 feet in width all around the temple on every side.

sn The phrase son of man occurs ninety-three times in the book of Ezekiel. It simply means “human one,” and distinguishes the prophet from the nonhuman beings that are present in the world of his vision.

tc The MT reads “jambs” which does not make sense in context. Supposing a confusion of yod for vav, the text may be emended to read “porch.” See D. I. Block, Ezekiel (NICOT), 2:518.
