Ezekiel 16:36
16:36 This is what the sovereign Lord says: Because your lust 1 was poured out and your nakedness was uncovered in your prostitution with your lovers, and because of all your detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children you have given to them,
Ezekiel 20:8
20:8 But they rebelled against me, and refused to listen to me; no one got rid of their detestable idols, 2 nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt. Then I decided to pour out 3 my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
Ezekiel 37:23
37:23 They will not defile themselves with their idols, their detestable things, and all their rebellious deeds. I will save them from all their unfaithfulness 4 by which they sinned. I will purify them; they will become my people and I will become their God.
1 tn The Hebrew word occurs only here in the OT.
2 tn Heb “each one, the detestable things of their eyes did not throw away.”
3 tn Heb “and I said/thought to pour out.”
4 tc Heb “their dwellings.” The text as it stands does not make sense. Based on the LXX, a slight emendation of two vowels, including a mater, yields the reading “from their turning,” a reference here to their turning from God and deviating from his commandments. See BDB 1000 s.v. מְשׁוּבָה, and D. I. Block, Ezekiel (NICOT), 2:407.
