Ezekiel 14:3

14:3 “Son of man, these men have erected their idols in their hearts and placed the obstacle leading to their iniquity ¹  right before their faces. Should I really allow them to seek ²  me?

Ezekiel 16:19

16:19 As for my food that I gave you – the fine flour, olive oil, and honey I fed you – you placed it before them as a soothing aroma. That is exactly what happened, declares the sovereign Lord.

Ezekiel 37:1

The Valley of Dry Bones

37:1 The hand ³  of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and placed ⁴  me in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones.

Ezekiel 40:2

40:2 By means of divine visions ⁵  he brought me to the land of Israel and placed me on a very high mountain, ⁶  and on it was a structure like a city, to the south.

¹ tn Heb “the stumbling block of their iniquity.” This phrase is unique to the prophet Ezekiel.

² tn Or “I will not reveal myself to them.” The Hebrew word is used in a technical sense here of seeking an oracle from a prophet (2 Kgs 1:16; 3:11; 8:8).

³ tn Or “power.”

sn Hand in the OT can refer metaphorically to power, authority, or influence. In Ezekiel God’s hand being on the prophet is regularly associated with communication or a vision from God (3:14, 22; 8:1; 37:1; 40:1).

⁵ tn The expression introduces the three major visions of Ezekiel (1:1; 8:3; 40:2).

⁶ tn The reference to a very high mountain is harmonious with Isa 2:2.
