Moses’ Plea on Behalf of the Lord’s Reputation

9:25 I lay flat on the ground before the Lord for forty days and nights, 1  for he 2  had said he would destroy you.

Deuteronomy 20:12

20:12 If it does not accept terms of peace but makes war with you, then you are to lay siege to it.
