Deuteronomy 1:8

1:8 Look! I have already given the land to you. Go, occupy the territory that I, the Lord, promised to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants.”

Deuteronomy 34:4

34:4 Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it, but you will not cross over there.”

tn Heb “I have placed before you the land.”

tn Heb “the Lord.” Since the Lord is speaking, it is preferable for clarity to supply the first person pronoun in the translation.

tn Heb “swore” (so NAB, NIV, NRSV, NLT). This refers to God’s promise, made by solemn oath, to give the patriarchs the land.

tn Heb “fathers” (also in vv. 11, 21, 35).

tn Heb “their seed after them.”

tn Heb “seed” (so KJV, ASV).

tn The Hebrew text includes “with your eyes,” but this is redundant in English and is left untranslated.
