Daniel 1:19

1:19 When the king spoke with them, he did not find among the entire group ¹  anyone like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, or Azariah. So they entered the king’s service. ² 

Daniel 2:14

2:14 Then Daniel spoke with prudent counsel ³  to Arioch, who was in charge of the king’s executioners and who had gone out to execute the wise men of Babylon.

Daniel 7:16

7:16 I approached one of those standing nearby and asked him about the meaning ⁴  of all this. So he spoke with me and revealed ⁵  to me the interpretation of the vision: ⁶ 

Daniel 9:6

9:6 We have not paid attention to your servants the prophets, who spoke by your authority ⁷  to our kings, our leaders, and our ancestors, ⁸  and to all the inhabitants ⁹  of the land as well.

³ tn Aram “returned prudence and counsel.” The expression is a hendiadys.

⁶ tn Aram “matter,” but the matter at hand is of course the vision.

⁷ tn Heb “in your name.” Another option is to translate, “as your representatives.”

⁸ tn Heb “our fathers” (also in vv. 8, 16). The Hebrew term translated “father” can refer to more distant relationships such as grandfathers or ancestors.
