Acts 5:8

5:8 Peter said to her, “Tell me, were the two of you ¹  paid this amount ²  for the land?” Sapphira ³  said, “Yes, that much.”

Acts 9:13

9:13 But Ananias replied, ⁴  “Lord, I have heard from many people ⁵  about this man, how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem,

¹ tn The words “the two of” are not in the Greek text, but have been supplied to indicate that the verb (ἀπέδοσθε, apedosqe) is plural and thus refers to both Ananias and Sapphira.

² tn Grk “so much,” “as much as this.”

³ tn Grk “She”; the referent (Sapphira) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

⁴ sn Ananias replied. Past events might have suggested to Ananias that this was not good counsel, but like Peter in Acts 10, Ananias’ intuitions were wrong.
