2 Kings 3:25

3:25 They tore down the cities and each man threw a stone into every cultivated field until they were covered. 1  They stopped up every spring and chopped down every productive tree.

Only Kir Hareseth was left intact, 2  but the slingers surrounded it and attacked it.

2 Kings 11:9

11:9 The officers of the units of hundreds did just as 3  Jehoiada the priest ordered. Each of them took his men, those who were on duty during the Sabbath as well as those who were off duty on the Sabbath, and reported 4  to Jehoiada the priest.

2 Kings 15:20

15:20 Menahem got this silver by taxing all the wealthy men in Israel; he took fifty shekels of silver from each one of them and paid it to the king of Assyria. 5  Then the king of Assyria left; he did not stay there in the land.

2 Kings 23:35

23:35 Jehoiakim paid Pharaoh the required amount of silver and gold, but to meet Pharaoh’s demands Jehoiakim had to tax the land. He collected an assessed amount from each man among the people of the land in order to pay Pharaoh Necho. 7 

2 Kings 25:17

25:17 Each of the pillars was about twenty-seven feet 8  high. The bronze top of one pillar was about four and a half feet 9  high and had bronze latticework and pomegranate shaped ornaments all around it. The second pillar with its latticework was like it.

1 tn Heb “and [on] every good portion they were throwing each man his stone and they filled it.” The vav + perfect (“and they filled”) here indicates customary action contemporary with the situation described in the preceding main clause (where a customary imperfect is used, “they were throwing”). See the note at 3:4.

2 tn Heb “until he had allowed its stones to remain in Kir Hareseth.”

8 tn Heb “eighteen cubits.” The standard cubit in the OT is assumed by most authorities to be about eighteen inches (45 cm) long.

9 tn Heb “three cubits.” The parallel passage in Jer 52:22 has “five.”
