tn The Hebrew pronoun is plural, suggesting that Solomon and all Israel (or perhaps Solomon and his successors) are in view. To convey this to the English reader, the translation “you people” has been employed.

tn Heb “which I placed before you.”

tn Heb “and walk and serve other gods and bow down to them.”

tn Heb “and King Asa took all Judah and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its wood which Baasha had built.”

tn Heb “and he built with them.”

tn Or “army.”

tc The MT reads פְגָרִים (fÿgarim, “corpses”), but this seems odd among a list of plunder. A few medieval Hebrew mss and the Vulgate read בְגָדִים (vÿgadim, “clothing”), which fits the context much better.

tn Heb “and they snatched away for themselves so that there was no carrying away.”

tn Heb “and they were three days looting the plunder for it was great.”

10 tn Heb “and he caused the residents of Jerusalem to commit adultery.” In this context spiritual unfaithfulness to the Lord is in view rather than physical adultery.

11 tn Heb “and drove Judah away.”

12 tn Heb “lay down with his fathers.”

13 tn Heb “fathers.”

14 tn Heb “a field of burial.”

15 tn Heb “for they said, ‘He had a skin disease.’”

16 tn Heb “lay down with his fathers.”

17 sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.

18 tn Heb “in the eyes of.”

19 tn Heb “turned their faces.”

20 tn Heb “and turned the back.”

21 tn Heb “lay down with his fathers.”

22 tn Heb “and honor they did to him in his death, all Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.”

23 tn Heb “and they seized him with hooks.”
