2 Chronicles 6:5

6:5 He told David, ¹  ‘Since the day I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from all the tribes of Israel to build a temple in which to live. ²  Nor did I choose a man as leader of my people Israel.

2 Chronicles 15:2

2 Chronicles 35:21

35:21 Necho ⁸  sent messengers to him, saying, “Why are you opposing me, O king of Judah? ⁹  I am not attacking you today, but the kingdom with which I am at war. ¹⁰  God told me to hurry. Stop opposing God, who is with me, or else he will destroy you.” ¹¹

In this case the temple is referred to as a “house” where the Lord himself can reside.
