2 Chronicles 6:33
6:33 Then listen from your heavenly dwelling place and answer all the prayers of the foreigners. 1 Then all the nations of the earth will acknowledge your reputation, 2 obey 3 you like your people Israel do, and recognize that this temple I built belongs to you. 4
2 Chronicles 8:14
8:14 As his father David had decreed, Solomon 5 appointed the divisions of the priests to do their assigned tasks, the Levitical orders to lead worship and help the priests with their daily tasks, 6 and the divisions of the gatekeepers to serve at their assigned gates. 7 This was what David the man of God had ordered. 8
2 Chronicles 13:9
13:9 But you banished 9 the Lord’s priests, Aaron’s descendants, and the Levites, and appointed your own priests just as the surrounding nations do! Anyone who comes to consecrate himself with a young bull or seven rams becomes a priest of these fake gods! 10
2 Chronicles 19:11
19:11 You will report to Amariah the chief priest in all matters pertaining to the Lord’s law, and to Zebadiah son of Ishmael, the leader of the family of Judah, in all matters pertaining to the king. 11 The Levites will serve as officials before you. Confidently carry out your duties! 12 May the Lord be with those who do well!”
1 tn Heb “and do all which the foreigner calls to [i.e., “requests of”] you.”
2 tn Heb “name.” See the note on “reputation” in v. 32.
3 tn Heb “fear.”
4 tn Heb “that your name is called over this house which I built.” The Hebrew idiom “call the name over” indicates ownership. See 2 Sam 12:28.
5 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Solomon) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
6 tn Heb “and the Levites, according to their posts, to praise and to serve opposite the priests according to the matter of a day in its day.”
7 tn Heb “and the gatekeepers by their divisions for a gate and a gate.”
8 tn Heb “for so [was] the command of David the man of God.”
9 tn In the Hebrew text this is phrased as a rhetorical question, “Did you not banish?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “Of course you did,” the force of which is reflected in the translation “But you banished.”
10 tn Heb “whoever comes to fill his hand with a bull of a son of cattle, and seven rams, and he is a priest to no-gods.”
11 tn Heb “and look, Amariah the chief priest is over you with respect to every matter of the Lord, and Zebadiah…with respect to every matter of the king.”
12 tn Heb “Be strong and act!”
