2 Chronicles 6:32

6:32 “Foreigners, who do not belong to your people Israel, will come from a distant land because of your great reputation ¹  and your ability to accomplish mighty deeds; ²  they will come and direct their prayers toward this temple.

2 Chronicles 7:14

7:14 if my people, who belong to me, ³  humble themselves, pray, seek to please me, ⁴  and repudiate their sinful practices, ⁵  then I will respond ⁶  from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. ⁷

¹ tn Heb “your great name.” The word “name” sometimes refers to one’s reputation or honor (thus the translation here, “your great reputation”).

² tn Heb “and your strong hand and your outstretched arm.”

³ tn Heb “over whom my name is called.” The Hebrew idiom “call the name over” indicates ownership. See 2 Sam 12:28.

⁴ tn Heb “seek my face,” where “my face” is figurative for God’s presence and acceptance.
