2 Chronicles 6:18

6:18 “God does not really live with humankind on the earth! ¹  Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

2 Chronicles 20:25

20:25 Jehoshaphat and his men ²  went to gather the plunder; they found a huge amount of supplies, clothing ³  and valuable items. They carried away everything they could. ⁴  There was so much plunder, it took them three days to haul it off. ⁵

¹ tn Heb “Indeed, can God really live with mankind on the earth?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “Of course not,” the force of which is reflected in the translation “God does not really live with mankind on the earth.”

² tn Or “army.”

³ tc The MT reads פְגָרִים (fÿgarim, “corpses”), but this seems odd among a list of plunder. A few medieval Hebrew mss and the Vulgate read בְגָדִים (vÿgadim, “clothing”), which fits the context much better.

⁴ tn Heb “and they snatched away for themselves so that there was no carrying away.”

⁵ tn Heb “and they were three days looting the plunder for it was great.”
