2 Chronicles 22:6
22:6 Joram 1 returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he received from the Syrians 2 in Ramah when he fought against King Hazael of Syria. Ahaziah 3 son of King Jehoram of Judah went down to visit Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he had been wounded. 4
2 Chronicles 24:25
24:25 When they withdrew, they left Joash 5 badly wounded. His servants plotted against him because of what he had done to 6 the son 7 of Jehoiada the priest. They murdered him on his bed. Thus 8 he died and was buried in the City of David, 9 but not in the tombs of the kings.
1 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Joram) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
2 tn Heb “which the Syrians inflicted [on] him.”
3 tc Most Hebrew mss read “Azariah.” A few Hebrew mss, the LXX, Vulgate, and Syriac read “Ahaziah” (cf. 2 Kgs 8:29).
4 tn Heb “because he was sick,” presumably referring to the wounds he received in the battle with the Syrians.
5 tn Heb “him”; the referent (Joash) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
6 tn Heb “because of the shed blood of.”
7 tc The MT has the plural בְּנֵי (bÿney, “sons”), but the final yod is dittographic. Note the yod that immediately follows.
8 tn Heb “and he died.”
9 sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.
