2 Chronicles 18:7

18:7 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man through whom we can seek the Lord’s will. But I despise him because he does not prophesy prosperity for me, but always disaster. His name is Micaiah son of Imlah. Jehoshaphat said, “The king should not say such things!”

2 Chronicles 20:9

20:9 ‘If disaster comes on us in the form of military attack, judgment, plague, or famine, we will stand in front of this temple before you, for you are present in this temple. We will cry out to you for help in our distress, so that you will hear and deliver us.’

tn Heb “to seek the Lord from him.”

tn Or “hate.”

tn Heb “all his days.”

tn The words “his name is” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

tn Heb “sword.”

tn Heb “for your name is in this house.” The “name” of the Lord sometimes designates the Lord himself, being indistinguishable from the proper name. In this case the temple is referred to as a “house” where the Lord himself can reside.

tn Or “so that you may.”
