2 Chronicles 1:11

1:11 God said to Solomon, “Because you desire this, and did not ask for riches, wealth, and honor, or for vengeance on your enemies, and because you did not ask for long life, but requested wisdom and discernment so you can make judicial decisions for my people over whom I have made you king,

2 Chronicles 2:13

2 Chronicles 6:16

6:16 Now, O Lord God of Israel, keep the promise you made to your servant, my father David, when you said, ‘You will never fail to have a successor ruling before me on the throne of Israel, provided that your descendants watch their step and obey my law as you have done.’

2 Chronicles 6:40

6:40 “Now, my God, may you be attentive and responsive to the prayers offered in this place.

2 Chronicles 9:8

9:8 May the Lord your God be praised because he favored you by placing you on his throne as the one ruling on his behalf! Because of your God’s love for Israel and his lasting commitment to them, 10  he made you king over them so you could make just and right decisions.” 11

2 Chronicles 20:8-9

20:8 They settled down in it and built in it a temple 12  to honor you, 13  saying, 20:9 ‘If disaster comes on us in the form of military attack, 14  judgment, plague, or famine, we will stand in front of this temple before you, for you are present in this temple. 15  We will cry out to you for help in our distress, so that you will 16  hear and deliver us.’

2 Chronicles 24:20

24:20 God’s Spirit energized 17  Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood up before the people and said to them, “This is what God says: ‘Why are you violating the commands of the Lord? You will not be prosperous! Because you have rejected the Lord, he has rejected you!’”

2 Chronicles 25:16

25:16 While he was speaking, Amaziah 18  said to him, “Did we appoint you to be a royal counselor? Stop prophesying or else you will be killed!” 19  So the prophet stopped, but added, “I know that the Lord has decided 20  to destroy you, because you have done this thing and refused to listen to my advice.”

2 Chronicles 34:27

34:27 ‘You displayed a sensitive spirit 21  and humbled yourself before God when you heard his words concerning this place and its residents. You humbled yourself before me, tore your clothes and wept before me, and I have heard you,’ says the Lord.

tn Heb “because this was in your heart.”

tn Heb “the life of those who hate you.”

tn Heb “many days.”

sn The name Huram Abi means “Huram [is] my father.”

tn Heb “there will not be cut off from you a man from before me sitting on the throne of Israel.”

tn Heb “guard their way by walking in my law as you have walked before me.”

tn Heb “May your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayer of this place.”

tn Or “delighted in.”

tn Heb “as king for the Lord your God.”

10 tn Heb “to make him stand permanently.”

11 tn Heb “to do justice and righteousness.”

12 tn Or “sanctuary.”

13 tn Heb “for your name.” The word “name” sometimes refers to one’s reputation or honor (thus the translation here, “to honor you).

14 tn Heb “sword.”

15 tn Heb “for your name is in this house.” The “name” of the Lord sometimes designates the Lord himself, being indistinguishable from the proper name. In this case the temple is referred to as a “house” where the Lord himself can reside.

16 tn Or “so that you may.”

17 tn Heb “clothed.”

18 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Amaziah) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

19 tn Heb “Stop yourself! Why should they strike you down?”

20 tn The verb יָעַץ (yaats, “has decided”) is from the same root as יוֹעֵץ (yoets, “counselor”) in v. 16 and עֵצָה (’etsah, “advice”) later in v. 16. The wordplay highlights the appropriate nature of the divine punishment. Amaziah rejected the counsel of God’s prophet; now he would be the victim of God’s “counsel.”

21 tn Heb “Because your heart was tender.”
