Nevertheless the Lord will evict her and shove her fortifications 1 into the sea – she will be consumed by fire.
But the Lord will take away her possessions and destroy her power on the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.
Behold, the Lord will dispossess her And cast her wealth into the sea; And she will be consumed with fire.
But now the Lord will strip away Tyre’s possessions and hurl its fortifications into the Mediterranean Sea. Tyre will be set on fire and burned to the ground.
But God will certainly bankrupt her; he will dump all that wealth into the ocean and burn up what's left in a big fire.
See, the Lord will take away her heritage, overturning her power in the sea; and she will be burned up with fire.
But now, the Lord will strip it of its possessions and hurl its wealth into the sea, and it shall be devoured by fire.
Behold, the Lord will cast her out; He will destroy her power in the sea, And she will be devoured by fire.
Behold, the Lord
will cast her out
and he will smite
in the sea
and she shall be devoured

1 tn The Hebrew word חַיִל (khayil, “strength, wealth”) can, with certain suffixes, look exactly like חֵל (khel, “fortress, rampart”). The chiastic pattern here suggests that not Tyre’s riches but her defenses will be cast into the sea. Thus the present translation renders the term “fortifications” (so also NLT) rather than “wealth” (NASB, NRSV, TEV) or “power” (NAB, NIV).
