Jeremiah 33:10

Context
NET ©

“I, the Lord, say: 1  ‘You and your people are saying 2  about this place, “It lies in ruins. There are no people or animals in it.” That is true. The towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem 3  will soon be desolate, uninhabited either by people or by animals. But happy sounds will again be heard in these places.

NIV ©

"This is what the LORD says: ‘You say about this place, "It is a desolate waste, without men or animals." Yet in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted, inhabited by neither men nor animals, there will be heard once more

NASB ©

"Thus says the LORD, ‘Yet again there will be heard in this place, of which you say, "It is a waste, without man and without beast," that is, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,

NLT ©

"This is what the LORD says: You say, ‘This land has been ravaged, and the people and animals have all disappeared.’ Yet in the empty streets of Jerusalem and Judah’s other towns, there will be heard once more

MSG ©

"Yes, GOD's Message: 'You're going to look at this place, these empty and desolate towns of Judah and streets of Jerusalem, and say, "A wasteland. Unlivable. Not even a dog could live here."

BBE ©

This is what the Lord has said: There will again be sounding in this place, of which you say, It is a waste, without man and without beast; even in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem which are waste and unpeopled, without man and without beast,

NRSV ©

Thus says the LORD: In this place of which you say, "It is a waste without human beings or animals," in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without inhabitants, human or animal, there shall once more be heard

NKJV ©

"Thus says the LORD: ‘Again there shall be heard in this place––of which you say, "It is desolate, without man and without beast" ––in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,

NET © Notes

tn Heb “Thus says the Lord.” For the first person rendering see the translator’s note at the end of v. 2.

sn The phrase here is parallel to that in v. 4 and introduces a further amplification of the “great and mysterious things” of v. 3.

tn Heb “You.” However, the pronoun is plural as in 32:36, 43. See the translator’s note on 32:36.
