Do not cause me dismay! 1 You are my source of safety in times of trouble.
Do not be a terror to me; you are my refuge in the day of disaster.
Do not be a terror to me; You are my refuge in the day of disaster.
LORD, do not desert me now! You alone are my hope in the day of disaster.
Don't add to my troubles. Give me some relief!
Be not a cause of fear to me: you are my safe place in the day of evil.
Do not become a terror to me; you are my refuge in the day of disaster;
Do not be a terror to me; You are my hope in the day of doom.
Be not a terror
unto me: thou [art] my hope
in the day

1 tn Heb “do not be a source of dismay for me.” For this nuance of מְחִתָּה (mÿkhittah) rather than “terror” as many of the English versions have it see BDB 370 s.v. מְחִתָּה 1.b and the usage in Prov 21:15. Compare also the usage of the related verb which occurs in the next verse (see also BDB 369 s.v. חָתַת Qal.2).
