and when they did not find his body, they came back and said they had seen a vision of angels, 1 who said he was alive.
When they were all satisfied, Jesus 1 said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces that are left over, so that nothing is wasted.”
So they were sent on their way by the church, and as they passed through both Phoenicia 1 and Samaria, they were relating at length 2 the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy 3 to all the brothers.
For in fact when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we would suffer affliction, and so it has happened, as you well know. 1
They replied, “The man questioned us 1 thoroughly 2 about ourselves and our family, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother?’ 3 So we answered him in this way. 4 How could we possibly know 5 that he would say, 6 ‘Bring your brother down’?”
The Israelites did just as Joshua commanded. They picked up twelve stones, according to the number of the Israelite tribes, from the middle of the Jordan as the Lord had instructed Joshua. They carried them over with them to the camp and put them there.

Today your own eyes see how the Lord delivered you – this very day – into my hands in the cave. Some told me to kill you, but I had pity 1 on you and said, ‘I will not extend my hand against my lord, for he is the Lord’s chosen one.’ 2
His servants approached and said to him, “O master, 1 if the prophet had told you to do some difficult task, 2 you would have been willing to do it. 3 It seems you should be happy that he simply said, “Wash and you will be healed.” 4
Delilah said to Samson, “Up to now you have deceived me and told me lies. Tell me how you can be subdued.” He said to her, “If you weave the seven braids of my hair 1 into the fabric on the loom 2 and secure it with the pin, I will become weak and be like any other man.”
Gad went to David and told him, “Shall seven 1 years of famine come upon your land? Or shall you flee for three months from your enemy with him in hot pursuit? Or shall there be three days of plague in your land? Now decide 2 what I should tell the one who sent me.”
