Then Samuel said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. You have indeed sinned. 1 However, don’t turn aside from the Lord. Serve the Lord with all your heart.
Then Samuel said, “Does the Lord take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as he does in obedience? 1 Certainly, 2 obedience 3 is better than sacrifice; paying attention is better than 4 the fat of rams.
He replied, “Yes, in peace. I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.” So he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do everything that my lord the king has instructed his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth was a regular guest 1 at David’s table, 2 just as though he were one of the king’s sons.
