“My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds 1 have allow them to go astray. They have wandered around in the mountains. They have roamed from one mountain and hill to another. 2 They have forgotten their resting place.
I will certainly gather all of you, O Jacob, I will certainly assemble those Israelites who remain. 1 I will bring them together like sheep in a fold, 2 like a flock in the middle of a pasture; 3 they will be so numerous that they will make a lot of noise. 4
For the household gods 1 have spoken wickedness, the soothsayers have seen a lie, and as for the dreamers, they have disclosed emptiness and give comfort in vain. Therefore the people set out like sheep and become scattered because they have no shepherd. 2

You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the choice animals, but you do not feed the sheep!
“So now, say this to my servant David: ‘This is what the Lord of hosts says: I took you from the pasture and from your work as a shepherd 1 to make you leader of my people Israel.
